(3 credits) Prerequisite: PSYC 100 or SOCI 102 This course includes the analysis of the conceptions of social welfare, the historical development and function of social welfare and the value systems underlying the political, economic and social response to human needs. It offers an overview of the roles of the social worker and the varied settings in which interventions are employed. Includes a 30-hour service-learning experience. Offered either semester. (CSOC)
